Obesity and diabetes are increasingly common conditions that absorb significant healthcare resources in their management and treatment, and which, if not addressed are major contributory factors in the development of other diseases, including cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Imperial College AHSC facilitates research in these disease areas by bringing together laboratory scientists, population scientists and clinicians with a view to reducing the burden of these conditions where possible through prevention of the disease.

Where that is not possible, the AHSC pursues new approaches to the early detection and diagnosis of obesity and diabetes, combined with development of more effective, sustainable treatment regimes.
